Why Men Do Not Read Back Pages of Newspapers
There is a weird habit among many people, men especially, to read first the back pages of newspapers. The reason: they are interested to read the sports news first more than anything else. While it is true that there seems to be no apparent decline in the appetite for sports, this weird habit is declining to a considerable extent. The reason: most men do not read newspapers as much as they used to.
Indeed, numerous studies in recent years have shown that there is a steady decline in people who read actual newspapers. People are more often online than they are with reading newspapers. They read their news and gossips through the Internet. Consequently, most men read their daily dose of sports news and updates in the Internet as well. The Internet offers a wide variety of options for sports as a lot of websites are covering sports-related stories using different styles and approaches. Furthermore, people do not have to pay anything when reading mainstream newspapers and magazines online.
Aside from traditional sources, there are websites and blogs that post sports commentaries and analysis – even from ordinary folks themselves. Also, websites have interactive features where people can discuss about sports-related issues. The latter is something that is not practicable with newspapers. Sports sites are often presented much better, complete with photos and videos to enhance the "interest" factor among readers. Moreover, it is no secret that many online sites gather and share scopes faster than the traditional journalists. Many news organisations, in fact, quote resourceful bloggers for their stories. It is sad to note indeed that it seems we are not going to see that many men reading first the back pages of daily newspapers.
